Overview
As a Data Analyst / Report Writer (Grade 3) you play a pivotal role in developing insightful reports, dashboards, and data models to support data-driven decision-making. This role involves working closely with the Data Warehouse team, Finance, and Commercial teams, ensuring data integrity, governance, and automation across reporting processes.
You have strong Power BI skills, experience working with Data Warehouses, and a passion for data storytelling, allowing you to develop advanced business intelligence capabilities and work on impactful global reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Business Intelligence & Reporting
(SFIA: Business Intelligence – BINT Level 4/5)
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards that provide real-time insights.
- Ensure all reports adhere to company-wide data visualisation and accessibility standards.
- Automate recurring reports and develop self-service BI solutions to reduce reliance on manual reporting.
- Work with senior stakeholders to define KPIs, business metrics, and performance tracking mechanisms.

2. Data Quality & Governance
(SFIA: Data Management – DATM Level 4)
- Implement and manage quality assurance (QA) frameworks for all reports.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all reporting tools and external audits.
- Work with the Data Warehouse team to define data validation processes and monitor data lineage.
- Maintain row-level security (RLS) and access controls in Power BI reports to ensure secure data sharing.

3. Data Transformation & ETL/ELT
(SFIA: Data Engineering – DENG Level 4)
- Use Power Query (M) and SQL to clean, transform, and structure raw data for reporting.
- Work closely with the Data Warehouse team to ensure efficient ETL/ELT pipeline integration.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, performing root cause analysis when inconsistencies arise.
- Develop data dictionaries and metadata documentation for business users.

4. Self-Service Analytics Enablement
(SFIA: Information Analysis – INAN Level 4)
- Develop reusable Power BI data models to enable business teams to generate their own insights.
- Train non-technical users on best practices for data access, visualisation, and Power BI usage.
- Ensure that data is structured effectively for intuitive self-service analytics.

5. Advanced Analytics & Forecasting
(SFIA: Data Analysis – DTAN Level 4/5)
- Perform trend analysis, forecasting, and predictive modelling where applicable.
- Use Power BI, Python (pandas, NumPy), or R for deeper analytical insights.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop models to track business performance.

6. API & External Data Integration
(SFIA: Systems Integration – INCA Level 4)
- Work with APIs and web services to pull external data into Power BI (e.g., financial market data, benchmarks).
- Automate external data refresh processes using Power Automate or Azure Logic Apps.
- Manage integrations with SharePoint, Excel, and CRM platforms for streamlined reporting.

7. Data Storytelling & Communication

- Translate complex data insights into clear, compelling narratives and visualisations.
- Design interactive dashboards with effective user experience (UX) principles in mind.
- Present findings to senior stakeholders in a story-driven format, making recommendations based on trends.

8. Agile & Continuous Improvement

- Work in Agile sprints, managing reporting deliverables iteratively.
- Use JIRA, Azure DevOps, or Git for version control of reports and datasets.
- Continuously evaluate reporting efficiency and implement process improvements.

- Develop an understanding of financial reports (P&L, balance sheets, revenue recognition).

β Technical Skills
- Strong experience in Power BI for report development, data modelling, and dashboard creation.
- Proficiency in SQL, with experience querying Data Warehouses.
- Strong Excel skills, including Power Pivot, advanced formulas, and VBA (desirable).
- Understanding of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M Language).

- Experience working with large datasets and ensuring data quality & validation.
