✅ Green — Available and fit for purpose
Use Green when:
- The field exists in the agreed DataViews (CDM/cvw/mvw as appropriate)
- The value looks complete, consistent, and correctly typed (date/number/text)
- It is safe to build the visual using this field as-is
Outcome: Report builder can proceed with confidence.
⚠️ Yellow — Present, but not where/what we expected
Use Yellow when:
- The data looks missing from the expected DataView, but:
- it likely exists under a different name, or
- it exists in a different DataView/domain, or
- it’s available via a known source (and we can point to it)
- We can identify a clear next step to resolve (mapping, rename, join, version selection, “use meta_codes not core”, etc.)
Outcome: Needs a small piece of investigation/remapping, but not a dead end.
❌ Red — Critical gap (blocking)
Use Red when:
- The data is required for the visual and we cannot currently locate it
- There is no known source (or the source is unclear / not accessible)
- It implies a missing requirement, missing integration, or missing historic coverage
- The visual is blocked until this is resolved
Outcome: Requires Data Engineering / source owner input to define where it comes from (or to add it).
